Project objectives

     The project aims to develop Thailand towards Green Economy by promoting mainly sustainability and competitiveness of tourism in accordance with Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG Model). Moreover, it focuses on promoting Thai tourism towards more sustainability by adopting sustainable production and consumption practices, promoting less polluting and more resource efficient products, and developing collaborations between Micro-entrepreneurs, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs). Moreover, having Thailand as the model of Asia, the project will enhance competitiveness of Thai tourism in world tourism market by government’s policies. The main objectives of the project are summarized as follows:

1.     To develop Thailand towards Green Economy;
2.    To promote sustainability for Tour operators;
3.    To develop competitiveness of Community-based Tourism and Ecotourism in accordance with Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG Model) as national priority of Thailand.

Roles of DASTA

1.    Developing standards and tools for community-based tourism development;
2.   Being a part of the MOU for Carbon Balance project, together with 8 organizations, to develop low carbon tourism in Designated Areas of DASTA;
3.   Selecting local communities or areas to participate in the trainings and assessment of GSTC and Green Destination;
4.  Forming DMC Working Group to create understanding to tourism entrepreneurs in Thailand in order to develop the market for sustainable community-based tourism.
