DASTA promotes the art showcase of 9 communities in Sukhothai, reiterating Sukhothai’s readiness to become a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC)
On February 14th - 28th, 2022 DASTA and Sukhothai Province collaboratively held an online activity “Sukhojai Lifelong Learning”, bringing together 9 local communities to demonstrate local artistry.
Gp. Capt. Athikun Kongmee, the Director-General of DASTA, stated that lifelong learning essentially discerns Sukhothai as a creative city, in alignment with the UNESCO’s GNLC, and, moreover, highlights Sukhothai’s position as a member of the UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN) in craftsmanship and local art. “Sukhojai Lifelong Learning”, consisting of demonstration of local art making from 9 communities from Sukhothai, was held collaboratively by DASTA 4 and Sukhothai Province on February 14th - 28, 2022.
The main objective of the activity is to promote skilled learning in local handcrafts and art to the public which will not only be beneficial in terms of inspiring the people who are currently looking for something new or inspiration in their career but will also provide a platform in which everyone can indulge themselves.
Now, DASTA and Sukhothai are putting our utmost effort into promoting Sukhothai as one of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) that currently holds more than 229 memberships of 229 cities from 64 countries around the world, to ensure that Sukhothai, as one of the three potentials candidates from Thailand, is going to be selected as a GNLC member by UNESCO.
