DASTA Promoted Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model in Tha Chai and Sri Satchanalai Subdistricts

DASTA and Sri Satchanalai Municipality collaborated in promoting Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model in Tha Chai and Sri Satchanalai Subdistricts, the sites of UNESCO World Heritage, community-based tourism and creative cities.

On February 3rd, 2022, the Office of Designated Area 4 and Sri Satchanalai Municipality, represented by Dr. Prakrong Sai-Chan, the Managing Director of DASTA 4 and the Mayor of Sri Satchanalai, along with the board committees and staff, worked together to stipulate the details on the plan to promote the BCG Model in the development of Tha Chai and Sri Satchanalai Subdistricts, which are two prominent tourist attractions located in Sri Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province. The suggested actions to be implemented are transforming plastic waste into fuels in order to eliminate excessive plastic waste in the area and nearby. DASTA proposed to implement this project in 2023.

BCG is a new economic model for inclusive and sustainable growth, introduced by the Thai government. It emphasizes the capitalization of the country’s strengths in biological diversity and cultural richness by utilizing technology and innovation to characterize Thailand’s economy as value-based and innovation-driven. As tourism and creative economy is one of the four focused areas of BCG, DASTA, as one of the driving forces in developing sustainable tourism, recognizes the importance of BCG and is working toward building and strengthening sustainability in tourist communities in Thailand.
