DASTA welcomes "Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot" as the new Director-General

          Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot took up office as Director-General of Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organization) or DASTA, and officially gave organizational policy at the DASTA Executives Meeting, highlighting the vision “Beyond the STAR” and operational strategy “A-B-C Immediate Start” to promote compact and clear management guideline for DASTA’s swift and immediate operations.

 

 

       On 21 April 2025, Mr. Titipong Khiewpaisal, Chairman of DASTA Board, along with executives and officers of DASTA welcomed Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot as he offically took up office as the new Director-General of DASTA.

      Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, widely known as "Director Tan", is an experienced expert in Thailand’s tourism industry with almost 4 decades of experience at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), from 1990 – 2025. He contributed to many successful and outstanding results with some of his past roles as Deputy Governor for International Marketing - Europe, Americas, Middle East, and Africa, and Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications. 

       Being appointed as Director-General of DASTA, Mr. Cheawsamoot stated that he is determined to continue to work with the aims to achieve utmost benefits and success for Thailand, driven by his passion and inspirations as a person closely connected with Thailand Tourism Industry for many years,

 

 

The vision “Beyond the STAR”

       “Beyond the STAR” is the driving force to push DASTA to become excellent in sustainable tourism development in all aspects.
        S – Staff Inspiration: inspiring and cultivating organizational trust, activating DASTA Staff by upskill & reskill, cross-function work integration, and DASTA pride. 
        T – Technology & Innovation: utilizing digital society to utmost benefits, including but not limited to administrative concept of voice of customer & voice of stakeholder, intelligent database system, development innovations, and call to action.
      A – Accelerate Accountability: elevating management the emphasize on result-based (outcome) more than task-based (output), review common indicators at policies, executives, and practitioners level, take into account expectations of local communities, local authorities, and government policies, involve general population and local communities in development, and jointly take responsibilities of tourism destinations and community management, ensuring fair and comprehensive economic benefits from tourism to local community.
        R – Reshaping Supply: “Adjust – Change – Evaluate – Step towards sustainability” review DASTA designated areas’ development plan in order to answer all aspects of sustainability.

 

 

The operational strategy “A-B-C Immediate Start” is a results-oriented Strategy.

         A – Appointing Targets and Directions: establishing targets and directions of flagship projects in accordance to Government’s policies to develop high-quality tourism destinations as sustainable tourism model at national and international levels.
          B – Building Inner Strength: encouraging participatory and integrated works within DASTA in accordance to “Less is More” mindset, emphasizing quality more than quantity, creating upskill & reskill opportunity, and setting clear career path to promote human resource development.
      C – Collaborating Stakeholders: building partnerships for cooperation to drive tourism destinations and communities to achieve international standard, creating family with common sustainable tourism goals.

 

          To summarize, DASTA strives to be focal organization in driving tourism based on sustainability, administrating designated areas for high-quality continuous development, ensuring  fair and inclusive income distribution and market linkage, and developing high-potential tourism products and services in line with DASTA’s roles and responsibilities to subsequently achieve its vision.
